At the beginning of the year, Alex Miller was like many content creators—full of passion, potential, and a dream. His YouTube channel, Adventures with Alex, had just over 3,600 subscribers. He was working hard, uploading content when he could, and doing his best to navigate the algorithm. But like so many creators, he felt stuck. His dream of turning YouTube into a career felt miles away.
Fast forward to today: it's November 18th, and Alex is approaching 40,000 subscribers. He's preparing to leave his day job and transition into becoming a full-time YouTuber by the end of the year.
So, what changed?
Alex made a mindset shift. He stopped seeing his channel as a hobby and started treating it like the career he wanted it to become. And he asked for support.
He joined my Creative Visibility program, committed to coaching, and most importantly—he showed up.
The Power of Showing Up (Even When You’re Scared)
When Alex and I first started working together, he was hesitant to invest in coaching.
"I was scared to put the money into it," he told me.
"But I decided to look at it as an investment rather than an expense—and that with time, this money would come back to me. And it did."
This mindset shift—seeing support as an investment—is often the first hurdle for creators. We’re told we have to figure everything out ourselves. That if we were “really serious,” we’d grind harder, post more, and burn ourselves out chasing success.
But here's the truth: no successful creator builds alone. The difference between hobbyists and professionals isn’t just talent—it’s mindset, strategy, and support.
Alex made that shift, and everything changed.
Getting Clear on What Works
One of the first things we did was take a deep dive into his YouTube channel. We looked at everything: titles, thumbnails, keywords, content themes. Together, we uncovered what was already working—and then created a plan to double down on it.
Alex had been overthinking his editing, feeling paralyzed by perfectionism. (Sound familiar?) I encouraged him to simplify. We focused on creating consistently, not flawlessly. Done became better than perfect.
“Some of the things that Brett and I worked on together that really helped get me into a better mindset was just creating more frequently and not overthinking the editing so much,” he shared.
We also optimized his SEO strategy—titles, tags, and thumbnails that not only grabbed attention but kept viewers watching. The result?
“My channel just exploded this year.”
From $0 to $30K (and Growing)
Alex’s growth wasn’t just numerical. It was financial. His channel generated $30,000 in income this year alone. That’s from a creator who, just 11 months ago, was still treating YouTube as a side hustle.
“Well, that's not a whole lot right now for a living,” he said. “But I’m thinking next year I should easily be able to double this—if not triple it.”
And here’s the kicker: this growth came without selling his soul to the algorithm or burning out. It came from showing up strategically, consistently, and confidently—with support.
That’s what we do inside the Show Up Club and my coaching programs. We take your creativity seriously. We help you get visible, get clear, and get paid.
What Can You Learn from Alex?
If you're a creator—whether you're on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or building a brand through newsletters and podcasts—Alex’s story is proof that success is possible when you get support and commit to showing up.
Here are the three biggest takeaways from his journey:
1. Mindset is the First Business Investment
Stop thinking of support as a luxury. It’s a strategy. Whether it’s coaching, community, or mentorship, investing in your growth can create a return that free tutorials never will.
2. Consistency > Perfection
Alex didn’t go viral. He didn’t buy followers. He created content consistently, simplified his process, and stopped overthinking. That consistency built trust with his audience—and the algorithm.
3. Clarity Converts
Once we identified what made Alex’s content work (and what didn’t), he was able to focus. That clarity helped him attract more views, grow faster, and monetize sooner.
You Deserve to Be Seen
If you're where Alex was at the beginning of this year—frustrated, unsure, and dreaming of more—I want you to hear this:
You are not lazy. You are not behind. You are undersupported.
Getting visible, consistent, and profitable with your content isn’t about working harder—it’s about working smarter, with support and strategy.
Inside the Show Up Club, you don’t just get coaching—you get community. You get the accountability to show up when you’d rather scroll. You get feedback when your inner critic gets loud. And you get to borrow belief when yours runs low.
Alex didn’t do this alone. And you don’t have to either.
